 It’s crucial to create  increase motivation of students in the classes. Using Web 2.0 tools can make the classes student centered, motivating, increasing self reliance and autonomy, and allowing for real world tasks. Pixton is one of these Web 2.0 tools.

Pixton allows its users to create comics. The website has a tutorial that runs the first time you access the program. You are allowed to choose a background create an avatar for yourself and you can edit your characters however you like, there are many options!  

You can create your own assignments or borrow from pre-existing ones. There are a variety of layouts to suit your instructional needs including timelines, mind maps, and storyboards. Pixton also allows for a lot of creativity. You can upload your own images for the background, you also have direct access to creative commons images.


Here is an example that I prepared. In our English lessons, we can create these kind of dialogues to our students and shom them different using of the tool. After all, speaking is very crucial in our lessons.

Nearpod is a tool that can help teachers make the class interactive. Teachers can create interactive presentations that include contents like videos, pdfs and audios or activities like polls, tests, open ended questions, matching pairs and quizzes. Students can gain access to these presentations through links and codes that teachers share with them. Teachers can share these materials either as live participation or student-paced.     Here's an example of Nearpod presentation. This is a powepoint slide I created a while ago but I added some contents on it with the help of Nearpod. We can add time limit and state a point for each question. Before saving this interactive presentation, we can also preview it.  Teachers can assign homeworks to their students. Students can engage on their own time as well! Teachers can provide a student paced code and they can access the Nearpod lesson at home, or anywhere with internet connection. Teachers can also create some mini games for students. T

Virtual Reality

  Virtual Reality (VR) is the use of computer technology to create a simulated environment.  By simulating as many senses as possible, such as vision, hearing, touch, even smell, the computer is transformed into a gatekeeper to this artificial world. The only limits to near-real VR experiences are the availability of content and cheap computing power. Virtual reality can improve education by providing students with memorable and immersive experiences that would otherwise not be possible, it can all take place within the classroom. VR is accessible to every student and can be easily monitored by teachers. Sutori

Sutori is a collaborative tool for creating and sharing interactive timelines and presentations. Teachers can create classes and in order for their students to join the class, they can send students codes to access shared timelines and create their own.
